Great tips for your job search

With the economy in bad shape, a lot of people have found themselves looking for work. Many people wonder why they didn't get a call back on a job or didn't get the position after they went to an interview.
With the economy in bad shape, a lot of people have found themselves looking for work without much success. Many people wonder why they didn't get a call back on a job or didn't get the position after they went to an interview.

When you go for a job interview, you want to look your very best. Our beauty pro, Jessica Metivier, has a few tips that will help you look as confident on the outside as you feel on the inside.

Metivier is a top makeup artist working in film, television and photography.  Her passion for cosmetics happened early in life.  "I knew I was addicted to makeup at around age 4 because I would steal my mom's lipstick, pick it up and throw it out the window. Later, I would pick it up outside and take it to school," she muses.

There's more than just experience when it comes to being a professional - it's also about presentation.

"Like the rest of you, your hair should look clean, simple and polished," suggests Metivier. "Keep it away from your face so your potential boss can see who you are. When it comes to your eyes, keep them on the natural side by avoiding heavy eyeliner, lots of mascara or brightly colored shadows."

Metivier follows the rules of simplicity, saying that less is almost always more when it comes to makeup.

"In your interview you only have a few minutes to explain how amazing you are, so don't confuse your interviewers with overly bright or glossy lips," she explains. "Try to keep your lipstick more neutral and go a shade or two darker with your lip color."

Use your interview as a platform for putting the very best you forward.  It's your time to shine and you should be the main focus!
