New study says more men cheating because of economy - AmericaNowNews.com

Is the economy to blame for infidelity?

As if families didn't have enough to worry about, a new study reveals more men are cheating on their women.

The reason given? Financial problems.

But is it really a trend, or are tough times just being used as an excuse?

The study, published in Men's Health Magazine, is based on studies indicating it's men's ancient urge to get busy when things get tough.

Couples therapist Dr. Ellen Casper, Ph.D. says, "It's one of those studies that certainly is startling and makes us all wake up and say 'that's really going on here?'"

But she adds it's not that surprising, admitting the whole idea actually makes sense - when a man's power to provide is threatened, so is his manhood. "This is of course not a real, but, a very temporary, superficial way to restore some of that lost self esteem and power to provide," says Dr. Casper.

But, both Dr. Casper and the Men's Health article are quick to point out - the choice to cheat is all on the individual, and pretty much always leads to more trouble.

Dr. Casper also stresses this doesn't mean she expects to get flooded with new clients trying to save their marriages, but that cheating and a bad economy might be linked.
