Car shows make for family fun

If you like cars, there may be no better place to visit than a car show. And it can be a perfect, inexpensive family outing! Our auto expert, Steve Strope, takes us to one of the country's biggest and best car shows to give you an exclusive insider's view.

"I'm here at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California," says Steve, "It's the world's largest indoor car show … and like any car show, it's a great event to bring the kids to for a day of low-cost family fun."

There are all kinds of car shows: Hot rods, antiques, super cars, even low riders. There's a car show for everybody's tastes.

Some of these car shows can be really big, and have more than just cars, like live bands and activities. Steve suggests leaving yourself enough time and pacing yourself so you and your kids can really enjoy your day.

Here's another car show tip: Bring along some water and some snacks. Car show food can get expensive. Some car shows are outside, so make sure you prepare yourself with things like a hat and sunscreen.

"There are hundreds of cars at this show," says Steve, "But this one's my favorite. It's a red 1932 Ford 3-window coupe, and I just think it's awesome. Just look at it. It sits perfect and mean!"

If you've been to a car show, you know how much fun they can be. And if you haven't … well, you've just gotten a little taste of what you're missing. So find a car show near you, grab the kids, and don't forget your camera!
