How can I get rid of extreme dry mouth?

Q: How can I get rid of extreme dry mouth?

A: Dry mouth is most often caused by taking prescription medication. It can also happen when you're digestive system is not functioning at its best. Check with you doctor to be sure there's no other serious cause. Otherwise, from a nutritional/lifestyle approach, try the following:

 - Drink 2- 3 quarts of water with sliced cucumber. Prepare it the night before and let the water get infused with the cucumber juices. This is more hydrating than water alone.
 - Limit coffee or tea to one cup a day
 - Stop smoking
 - breathe through your nose instead of mouth (try wearing nose strips to make it easier)
 - keep bowls of water on your desk or near your bed to create more humidity in the room you're in.
