Police have released the name of the little girl hit by a car and killed Sunday night in Bossier City.
It happened after 7 p.m. in the 1500 block of Carver Street.
Police say two-year-old Carlaya Ariah Jeter had actually arrived at the scene in the car that later ran her over.
Investigators say the girl had been playing in the front yard while the car was stopped, and everything was fine until the car began to leave. "At some point, the child darted around the front of the car as the car was driving off, and the child was hit by the vehicle," says Bossier City spokesman Mark Natale.
The little girl was taken to LSU Health where she was pronounced dead.
Bossier City police alcohol was not a factor in the crash and it appears the crash was unavoidable. No citations were issued to the driver.
