* CARFAX. The vehicle history company's app lets you pull up a vehicle's service and title history simply by scanning the vehicle's bar code on the dashboard or driver-door sidewall, or by entering the vehicle's license plate number. NOTE:  you must have a Carfax account in order to use the app, so you will have to purchase an account.

"All the information from our 34,000 sources instantly pops up simply by scanning the bar code or entering the license plate," said Carfax's Chris Basso.
