Does coffee reduce risk of endometrial cancer? - AmericaNowNews.com

Does coffee lower cancer risk?

Coffee - some people can't leave the house in the morning without some.

Researchers now say women who drink four or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day cut their risk of endometrial cancer by 25 percent, compared to women who drank less than a cup. But it's not clear why.

Dr. Jay Brooks explains one of the reasons why this may be the case. "The extra coffee may decrease the amount of estrogen, which is one of the risk factors for developing endometrial cancer."

While coffee has been linked to a lower risk of several cancers, there are studies suggesting it may boost the odds of others.

Experts say a woman's best bet for reducing her prospects of developing cancers of the uterus, breasts and even kidneys is to lose weight.

The fat cells make extra estrogen, which increases the risk of those cancers.
