Re-purposing cutlery trays

Okay now here's a fun tip — have a worn out cutlery or silverware tray you're ready to discard? Our organizing expert Zorianna Kit says think twice before throwing it out! Here are some ways to give that old tray new life beyond your kitchen drawer.

"Three of my favorite words are re-usere-purpose and re-cycle," says Zorianna.

If you've got a dirty cutlery tray – don't throw it away!

"You can re-use it because it's durable and you can re-purpose it in may different ways," says Zorianna. "For example, my girls have long, pretty hair. They love to put in ponytails and hair bands, but they just can't seem to keep their bathroom organized. So by putting everything in this tray, all the hair accessories and hairbrushes are in one spot."

"I love my mani-pedis, so I keep it all in one tray," she adds. "I can move it around the house so I can do my nails in front of the TV, in the kitchen outside, wherever I please. And best of all, you're re-cycling this within your own home."

Here is how to organize your office supplies:

"First, clean the tray in the dishwasher or by hand, and be sure to let it dry completely," says Zorianna. "Next, up gather all the items you want in the tray. Then organize the items in the slots so that it's easy to use them and put them back into place. That's the whole point! There you have it. An old cutlery tray all without spending a penny!"
