What could be more fun than including your furry friend in you vacation? However, a frightened, anxious or overly excited pet is not a good travel companion.
A loose pet in the car is potential hazard that can take your eyes and mind off the road and lead to accidents. Distracted driving is blamed in more than 10% of all U.S. highway fatalities, according to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Cell phones are the top distraction and now pets are considered just as unsafe and disruptive as passengers or drives who attempt to put on makeup.
There are safe ways to travel with your pet. Restraints are available at pet supply stores, websites and department stores. Dog safety seats and travel crates are other choices.
